Title: Video Game Music Thread
Post by: SkyMyl on October 16, 2010, 05:37:34 PM
Just realized NSF hasn't had this kind of thread yet, or at least in a long while. Just a topic for posting some of our favorite songs from games. Any game. Unless you know a place that has sound files you can download and attach to your posts, then we'll be using the youtube tags () for this topic. It puts the videos containing game music to good use, after all.

I've only got one rule for this, and that is to use spoilers if you embed more than three videos in the same post. That's all I ask. That said, go ahead and start posting some music.

Behold: The Banjo-Kazooie theme (a rather large chunk of my childhood), 02 (it may seem overrated, but it got that way for a reason), Darkness of the Unknown (wait for the violins to kick in), and BUCK BUMBLE.

I could have swore I put spoilers on when I posted it... accept this nostalgia as an apology.

Neerb, you broke the rule.
There's no need to make a post saying he "broke a rule". It's more of a guideline than a rule, anyway.

Well, since I made a post, I'll share something.

It's really sad that Other M didn't have memorable music aside from that one song.

I've actually wondered whether or not ACC would've started this or not considering what's on one of his pages. so if the music plays in an area far ahead of the game, then we put the spoiler thing on it? and here's 3 of the songs I've thought of

and even if i'm called an idiot, i'm sorry, but i can't find the spoiler button on my post board. did something happen in particular to my board?

The spoiler button actually hasn't been implemented yet. Just type out

without the =, and put the videos inside.

If the MUSIC is a spoiler, then just leave a warning if you think it's necessary.

I could spend hours listing my favorite video game tracks.  In fact, the majority of the music I listen to actually comes from video games.  Here's a few that have been stuck in my head lately:

Also, LAME, I can't make spoiler tags with titles anymore.

This was actually an old post that I'd saved from another forum. Of course, I had to edit the formatting a bit for this forum.

Also, if you're going to listen to any of these, listen to the one at the bottom.

Oh, and sorry for the many videos, I like to share though. Hope you enjoy them; I watched most of your guys' and they're great.

Brawl had an awesome collection of music (including remakes and remixes); I think that we can all agree on that, no matter what our opinions of the actual gameplay may be. Most if not all of these repeat at about half way.

Epic guitar solo starts at 1:08.

Others from Brawl include:
- Icicle Mountain (Melee)
- Bob-omb Battlefield
- Space Armada
- Space Battleground
- TOO MANY OTHERS. PLAY THE GAME, GO TO "MY MUSIC" (or whatever it is) AND YOU'LL SEE WHAT I MEAN.

The Pokémon series has some great music. It's probably my favorite series concerning OST's.

Other awesome songs are many of the battle themes, main theme renditions, and certain area-specific songs.

The Warioware series has a lot of great music too.

Other great music is in:
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
- the Halo series
- the Team Fortress 2 theme
- the Zelda series
- the Sonic series
- the Mario series
- Bomberman Hero has some of the most amazing, innovative and unique OST's I've ever heard. I can truly say that it's one-of-kind (unless the rest of the series is like this, then this goes for the whole series as I haven't played too much else of it). The game is epic despite mediocre reviews. Play it.

(This is new posting from now on.)

I also highly recommend this:

"Owari-Hajimari" (I think that that's the spelling; the video title has a typo) from The World Ends With You. This is the in-game version (as opposed to the "real" version. The rest of the game's OST is awesome as well--not to mention the game itself.

And don't mind the random video. It's not even an AMV.

Title: Re: Video Game Music Thread

I don't think it is either. At the time, it was pretty big. Back in 2001, not many games had voice acting, and aside from Tidus(earlier in the story anyway), FFX's acting was pretty decent(by video game standards at the time).

I'm probably a nostalgia fag for the game but its still a PS2 game that I play once in a while. Dat Monster Arena man. Jealous of the European version.

There is no characterization or development in I or III. None. The combat is basic. The story is basic and boring. Navigation is absolute poop. Random encounters happen way too often. Music is weakest in the series for both games despite setting iconic recurring tunes. Encounters aren't any fun unless they're the updated versions. The original NES versions are god awful. There is a reason Dragon Warrior was more popular in the states in the NES days. FF sucked poop on the NES.

I and III sucked compared to X man. It sucks you can't appreciate X for how awesome it was and is.

I like I and III, but they're just not better than any of the Playstation games, V, VI, or X. II was weird, but at least it tried to tell a story and make you give a poop about the characters and world. I and III threw you into a game world with characters that are blank as poop with no reason to care about anything. Go take care of the crystals! Warriors of Light! III's job system is its saving grace. If not for that, I'd consider it a re-imagined Final Fantasy I.
