Title: Best (Numbered) Final Fantasy Poll
Post by: The Riddler on January 18, 2011, 09:30:20 PM
You may vote up to three games.
In what order would you rank the Final Fantasy games?
Which ones stand out the most in terms of Plot, Characters, Progression, Music, etc?

I wanna see NSF's stance on Final Fantasy.

I would rank them in this order, the top three being my votes in the poll:

1. Final Fantasy IV
2. Final Fantasy IX
3. Final Fantasy VII

4. Final Fantasy VI
5. Final Fantasy VIII
6. Final Fantasy X
7. Final Fantasy V
8. Final Fantasy I
9. Final Fantasy XIII
10. Final Fantasy III
11. Final Fantasy II
12. Final Fantasy XI
13. Final Fantasy XII
14. Final Fantasy XIV

6, 4 and 3.

Haven't really played anything else...

Final Fantasy III
Final Fantasy IV
Final Fantasy I
Final Fantasy VI
Final Fantasy II
Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy IX
Final Fantasy V
Final Fantasy XII
Final Fantasy VIII
Final Fantasy XIII
Final Fantasy XIV (This game shouldn't exist.)
Final Fantasy XI (This game shouldn't exist.)
Final Fantasy X

notes
X was my first final fantasy game, square got lucky because I intercourse ing hated X but got addicted to the rest of the series. I bought X because of Kingdom Hearts. I love something about the older games. They're pretty straight to the point. It's probably because I prefer my RPGs to have more gameplay value than cutscene value. I can go play through the old nonlinear games in different ways, while in games like XIII everything falls into play the same way. There isn't much freedom to go out and have fun.
I still need to finish 13. I'll do it... eventually.

Final Fantasy IX
Final Fantasy VI
Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy IV
Final Fantasy VIII
Final Fantasy V
Final Fantasy III
Final Fantasy XIII
Final Fantasy II
Final Fantasy I
Final Fantasy XII
Final Fantasy XI

Haven't played XIV, probably won't. IX is my favorite, VI comes close, and X is a great game even with its flaws. The international version of the game is just packed with content. The only FF's I don't like are XII and XI, rest are worthy of legend in their own way or another. People can be too critical I guess.

FF3 is good if you've never played an RPG and are somehow impressed by the nonexistent character development it provides.

My thoughts exactly. I enjoyed it even if the characters are not well developed throughout the series.

How is that "indie" and why did that get brought up into this? Also, why are you being so antagonistic?
And anyway it's not like character development is everything and the absolute only thing that matters in a game, right?

On top top of all of this I asked "Does this make the game not fun?" which you clearly did not answer.

I'm not cool enough to think bad qualities are good, unlike all you intercourse in' bombing niggas here.

Someone somewhere will always give you poop for being wrong. Get used to it or go back to breastfeeding. Conflict exists and if you can't deal with it, lol @ you.

And when you're speaking of a RPG which is story-driven and has important focus on telling a story well, you'd tend to expect quality in that area.

Reasons why the game isn't fun:
- None of the bosses are remotely challenging. You know what's fun? Using strategy to overcome a difficult obstacle/boss, not just walking through dungeons and crystal bosses like they're made of tissue paper.
- It's slow paced. Every battle takes long as hell and the music is mind numbing, and by mind numbing I mean really awful.
- The game's job system had a lot of potential to be original and creative, but instead, it just becomes a tedious grinding session. A lot of classes are entirely useless or just beginning classes of better classes, leaving you with a handful or so of actually viable endgame classes. The game advertised "OVER ONE THOUSAND COMBINATIONS LOL", but that's false advertising at its finest. You could make a party of Luneth as a black mage or Arc as a black mage, there's legitimately no stat differences or anything significantly different outside of their appearance. It just makes the game feel like nothing you do in terms of your team even matters, and it really doesn't. I mean, they set up the fact that Arc is a wussy bookworm and Ingus is a intercourse ing knight and there's no nothing unique to either of them as any class. They both perform equally for no reason other than developer ineptitude.
- The music kind of puts you to sleep at times. http://youtu.be/s3fBTDqV738 http://youtu.be/S0P0PrDQ4ms http://youtu.be/VHYaZK2LVUg http://youtu.be/EeigawKkyP0 come to mind. The music's so bland that it almost feels thematic to golfing. There are a few gems on the OST for sure, but they're few and far between. Most of the game is haunted by subpar lulling music that doesn't feel befitting an adventure that's supposed to keep you interested.
- The battle system makes the game far too easy. Multiple attacks based on my job grind level? LOL
- Oh intercourse ing poop the shoe-horned wifi means that you can't get any intercourse ing reward for all the grinding the game wants you to do without requesting some cretins from GameFAQs to send you messages about how much of a nub you are? More importantly, the system is glitchy as intercourse . I tried going into it when I was done abusing the intercourse  out of skipping my clock ahead so I didn't have to wait an hour (seriously what the vagina intercourse ?) and it perpetually said I had to wait an hour. Really, you couldn't even bug test your wifi properly even though you intercourse ing advertise it and force the player to use it to get the master items that you parade around?

There are easily better reasons, but then again, who cares? It's just an inferior game to FFV, which improved upon it in leaps and bounds, and SE biblically failed to make a cohesive game that could tie in new gamers to the series and still appease people who aren't stupid enough to go "Shit I can PICK what person gets the same generic skills? WOW AMAZING". You can like the game all you want, but calling it good would be just funny.

You know you actually don't have to be antagonistic. You can chose to be a little bit respectful and nice to other people. I'ts not going to hurt. You don't have to be afraid of it.

No, I said that I thrive on confronting people like you. I didn't say specifically just here. And you really need to calm down a little bit, take a breather, and at least think about what you say before you start talking to people like that. A little bit of decency does go a long way when conversing with people. Plus, you'll look like a better person too.

And I don't care that you disagree, they are just video games, but it's the way you choose to conduct and present yourself when disagreeing. (or when just posting in general most of the time having seen you around before)

Where exactly did I say that I didn't like it here? I just said that I don't just hang out here to confront people. Confronting people isn't why I hang out here at all, though it has happened once or twice here. You may have responded to me but you still didn't answer all the questions that I asked you. And what exactly am I deflecting from?

All that I see you asking of me is to "try not to assault you irl", which I haven't tried that so that one's been fufilled. And earlier you told me to "learn to get some reading literacy or something." Though I'm pretty certain the phrase should be reading comprehension, or maybe just literacy without the word reading in front of it. And that request just reflects poorly against your own level of reading comprehension. Not to mention the various points that you tried to make up something I said or twist my words around to mean something entirely different than what I had clearly stated. (I still don't see how you could possibly have come up with some of that stuff) There's also when you've inserted completely unrelated things into your posts that didn't have anything to do with any of the subject matter in this thread. And I've pointed these things out in my other replies.
Looking back through my posts in this thread, I seem to be comprehending things just fine whereas you seem to having a little bit of trouble.

And if I happened to have missed any other things that you may have asked of me, then please repeat them in your reply and I will be glad to respond to those as well.

And I will state again, for good measure, that you are still running from my questions and apparently refuse to give me any straight answers to them.

nope. people talk about how they either love or hate II more than V all together. V is the least mentioned because there is practically nothing outstanding about it other than it did everything FFIII did but better. Don't even say the story is good because it just recycled the same crystal bullpoop from I and III.

Case in point: II has been ported more than V.

did you play the game

did you intercourse ing play the game

I hope you're just intercourse ing with me

that's like the first thirty percent of the game that I'm betting you never got past

did you even get to the second world

the first world references the crystals somewhat heavily

it's the first world out of THREE

did you honestly I don't have
asfhaslkdfjasgdfagvsdfgseradtfwaesfdzc

edit: V had the most likable characters and best gameplay so far. VI railroads you too much and some characters are so bland and uninteresting that it's just a demonstration of the expression "spread too thin".

that and the esper system is cool and all but intercourse s over characters that are physical based.

i shouldn't have to grind every two bosses, especially when 90% of the time my grinding's only going to last on two or three characters out of five.

also EO isn't hipster. it's had two sequels and is developed by Atlus.

They're not even remotely close to the same thing.
The only better thing about the DS version is there is more backstory shown, and if you're into it, the increased difficulty. The DS version is much, much harder.

The GBA version has the bonus dungeons, the revamped graphics, and not to mention the ability to swap characters back in. The DS version doesn't have any of that.

The PSP version is the best hands down though.

I'm not saying it's bad. I'm saying it's the worst remake. And the entire game is absolutely harder. The monsters/bosses are all stronger, and you don't level as quickly.

Nope. Adamantoise things hit intercourse ing hard, chameleon things hit intercourse ing hard, Tellah runs out of MP by the 3rd floor and has ceased to gain MP after he peaked at 90 back when he "remembered" his spells, so this makes it rather annoying to fight the various flan here. Osmose doesn't work well on most of the mobs here, so my main option is ethers, which I only have 5 of. I might try getting through by using my ethers, because Cecil is 21(obviously i have optimal gear it isn't exactly neuroscience getting the best gear for where I'm at) and I'd rather not grind atm. Battles around Troia at most give like 700xp and it takes like 15k to level.

Cid is intercourse ing useless.

Well "AUTO" mode also speeds up fights considerably. Any fight that isn't a boss fight takes like 10 seconds. Speeds up the time it takes to get through the game. Besides, this game really isn't that long compared to other FFs.

They're fun and interesting, regardless. Palom and Porom just didn't grow well. With Palom you get Bluff, and it stacks up, so he CAN be powerful.

The bonus of doing their trials is new twin-cast abilities, which is always fun if you have patience for them to cast it.

I'm being legit here.
Oh, it looks like Porom's Cry ability oddly changes between versions. I didn't notice this.

SNES/GBA - Makes fleeing easier.
DS - Lowers enemies' defense.
PSP - Confuses enemies.

Anyway so i guess the best thing to do would be to beat Zeromus again with the other characters before i start the secret dungeon, right?

Yes. However, completing each trial gives you some pretty broken battle items. Silliness ensues.

The Grimoire for Lunar Mist Dragon glitches Zeromus, or Zeromus EX.

Also, depending on how much you grind the other characters before going back to Zeromus, you may want to take an old party member with you for backup.

so I literally just beat FFVI and here are my thoughts:

- great narrative and characters

- horrible gameplay with WOR

- Ultima made WOR way too intercourse ing easy. Nearly every boss was just Ultima spam with prior Hastega + Slowga in place. I legitimately never had to change this strategy and really only healed once during the entire Kefka's Tower boss fights.

- The esper system started out good but really just devolved into "grind grind grind so you can give everyone good spell!", which is bad. I know Zero or Riddler will argue that the class system previously implemented was grindy in nature but actually intercourse  you it really wasn't. All you had to do was learn a class as you progressed through the story. It's not as though it was the ever necessary magic itself, which you kind of need on at least one to two characters for this type of game, it was just the ability to cast it. That and learning the magic casting levels was really intercourse ing easy and let you determine who your mages would be and who your physical people would be. In this, you'd kind of be clamoring over yourself to get everyone relevant magic so they don't become useless since physical attacks really are just worthless unless you're Umaro. It started out as a good idea but the implementation was horribull.

- Kefka is a poopty villain, even for FF standards.

- V had superior gameplay but VI had the superior story. both had an equal OST (this is subject to change since I haven't looked at VI's OST too much).

- why the intercourse  was there no Gilgamesh theme in this game since you can FIGHT him. 0/10

VI was fun and all but WOR blew poop in the gameplay department but I liked the narrative and stuff. V's still the better game to me. inb4noonecaresn_gger

Have to ignore your entire post because of this line of retardation.

Kefka is one of the best video game villains of all time, not just Final Fantasy.

He's a mad man that is actually successful in his goal. He's pure evil.

I'm not defending either side of your argument, I'm just saying you need to stop being so critical about other people's opinions. Not everyone is going to agree with you, and that doesn't make them retarded.

when all your villain does is spout unfunny jokes and act xDccentric, that's not a good villain. he destroyed the world entirely by the virtue of being Emperor Gestahl's ninny, not by actually doing anything himself.

He spouts jokes and is eccentric because he was originally a court jester. That's who he is. He was driven mad and goes psycho, and destroys the world.

He's a perfect villain, and without a doubt the best in the series.

he's evil for no other reason except FUCK IT I'M EVIL LOLOLOL. i've seen faggots like you bring in "b-b-but what about the sup-sup-sup-supplement material--" ninny no. if it's not in the game, it's not part of his characterization. But intercourse  it, let's include it. And? What's your point? He's evil for a reason never dwelled upon in the game and has no bearing on the plot whatsoever since the game never explores it. had it been a part of his characterization, he could've been interesting. but nope. really, it'd just be like if you found out that he had hepatitis B before the story began. Who cares, it's not relevant.

also I kind of don't give a intercourse  about Doma castle. oh wow, he killed people. what a well developed character. that's like if I argued that Exdeath was a great villain since he intercourse s up the entire world and specifically goes for the important places to the protagonists right before they face him. yeah, it's vagina cleaning devicey and evil, but it doesn't change that he's entirely one dimensional and has no characterization whatsoever. he's more of a plot device than he is a character, and the same goes for kefka.

More importantly, you're ignoring the bigger point: the world was destroyed by none of his machinations, solely Gestahl's. Gestahl was the one who gathered the espers and warring triad whatever the intercourse , Gestahl was the one who tricked Terra and friends into helping him some more, and oh yeah he's the one who even came up with the intercourse ing plan in the first place. kefka would've just been LOL MURDER LOL and went on a rampage but not really have ever done catastrophic damage otherwise. it was happenstance that the world was destroyed and he was in the situation that involved it. Gestahl actually had some organization and plans to go with his poop (not to cockride him or anything, he's pretty uninteresting too), Kefka was just riding on that plan and got lucky. zzz riddler.

basically you're a cocksucker.

I was like 9 when I fought Neo Exdeath.

I poop my pants when he told me he was going to consume everything, including himself.

At the time that just blew my mind.

You should have probably gotten all the dragon-killing weapons. The whip for Rosa is pretty good.

I'm also surprised you didn't mention the Robot Head things. They cast reflect on you and itself and have a intercourse  ton of HP. Incredibly annoying.

Most chests with powerful items and every ultimate weapon requires a boss. Not a big deal.

it's that you have no indication of a trapped chest until after you're about to die. i can buy that logic if i didn't have to waste so much intercourse ing time in this dungeon just do die at one point and then restart ALLLLLLL over again.

you've run into plenty of trapped chests throughout the game before that point. shoulda learned your lesson by then to always save before chests, or at the very least heal up like intercourse  before chests. The trapped chest I was never prepared for was the one in the Cave of Summons, and another in the basement of Eblan Castle.

i'm convinced we played different games.

take note of your savepoint and always go back. that's what i did, anyway. i also made sure to heal up after every fight, and particularly before chests. the first time i fought the ogres in eblan castle's chest, i nearly poop myself

yes because when I'm going through a dungeon for the first time and come across a treasure chest the first thing I think is wow i can't wait to save.

anyway, I finally beat it last night since I'd grinded about twenty levels and the ending wasn't anything special. credits went on for longer than they needed to and had like a thirty second loop at best. mediocre.
