Good job! I, Viewtifulboy, declare you the CHAMPION!

I'm the official winner of the Viewtiful Victory roleplay championship!

Tupin

Hopefully it's more than one exclusive and it doesn't turn out like the DSi.

Super

I'm all for fancy new refreshes but exclusive games is kind of retarded.

Zero

I get the exclusivity thing

I mean if they didn't make the games exclusive it'd just run like poop on the pooptier older 3DS. That said why didn't they just make the 3DS more powerful from the get go? Why the intercourse  doesn't the screen have better resolution?

Tupin

First question, because they probably didn't predict 3D would be a fad as much as it was. Secondly, so it would be compatible with previous games.

are you people complaining

gameboy pocket to gameboy color was a minor graphical update with exclusive games after about 27 months
3dsXL to n3ds/xl is a minor graphical update with more powerful processing, 3d viewing from any angle, more button inputs, and amiibo support, after about 27 months

did you all ninny when the gameboy color came out?

2DS is a gimmick for more sales, like the Micro and the Pocket. No one ninnyed about the Micro.

This is a well needed upgrade from the 3DS - improved 3D by not forcing you to look from one position, the extra button inputs (aside from the control nublet, there are z-triggers on top), amiibo support, and improved processing and graphics.

gameboy color had exclusive games too.  and in SOME gameboy model updates and even DS updates, they took OUT features. you couldn't play any gameboy/color games on the micro or any ds console. you couldn't play GBA on the DSI.

stop whining, this is an improvement and within the same timeframe that nintendo always does their stuff.

Tupin

The 2DS was nothing more than trying to sell the system to a younger/cheaper audience so that they could get the new Pokemon into as many hands as possible.

I just hope that Xenoblade being on it opens the doors for more exclusives. Or at least games compatible on both that have a special New 3DS version. Obviously they won't be as intensive as games specifically for the New 3DS, but it might help sales.

Neerb

A lot of people are complaining that the New 3DS is coming out.

I'm just complaining they don't have an American release planned yet.

I super want that thing; Xenoblade portable, tiny C-stick, faster downloads, NFC, ZL and ZR... so good...

Nintendo said an American and European release are happening, but not until 2015.

Just a timeline:

Gameboy Pocket to Gameboy Color: Two years. Added color.
Gameboy Advance to Gameboy Advance SP: Two years. Added lighting and a folding design.
Gameboy Advance SP to Gameboy Advance SP Model 2: One year. Added a backlight and a brightness switch.
Gameboy Advance SP to Gameboy Micro: Two years. Removed features in favor of a small size.

All updates within the same line, all two years apart, with the exception of SP to SP2.

Nintendo DS to DS Lite: Two years. Increased processing and graphics.
Nintendo DS Lite to DSi: Two years. Removes gameboy support and adds a camera.
Nintendo DSi to DSiXL: One year. Made it bigger.
Nintendo DSiXL to to 3DS: Two years - different console
Nintendo 3DS to 3DSXL: One year. Made it bigger.
Nintendo 3DSXL to New 3DS/XL: Two years. Adds viewing from all angles, amiibo support, extra inputs, and stronger hardware.

All the same line, all two years apart except DSI to DSIXL and 3DS to 3DSXL, which were both size upgrades.

This has always been Nintendo's time frame for handheld updates and releases. This is actually one of the most significant changes between same-line consoles. Stop complaining.
