Future fanfic plans

Ok, I was planning on making a fanfic based off with Dead or Alive and another based off of Ninja Gaiden at a later date. Then, I ran into this:

Now, I'm in a bit of a bind. After all, Mr. Itagaki put Tecmo on the map as far as I'm concerned. However, It is as if he wants nothing to do with either of his trademark franchises anymore from his statement. This brings me to the feeling like he wants to sever all ties with Tecmo and, from the early news so far, rightfully so. I do not know all the details on what transpired, but I thought I'd hasten my plans on one of these fanfics as a tribute to him. Then again, this 'tribute' would possibly insult him. That's something I do not want to do after all he has done over the years he has put into the business. What should I do?
